About Wular Lake

Wular Lake, spread across nearly 200 square kilometres, is one of Asia’s largest freshwater lakes and a jewel of Kashmir tourism. Located just outside Srinagar, this pristine water body is framed by the mighty Himalayas, creating a picture-perfect escape for nature lovers, photographers, and birdwatchers.

The lake is not just a scenic wonder but also a Ramsar Wetland Site, recognised for its ecological importance. Its wetlands serve as a crucial habitat for fish, migratory birds, and other aquatic life, supporting the livelihood of thousands of local fishermen. Every year, migratory birds from Central Asia, Siberia, and Northern Europe flock here, making it a haven for birding enthusiasts.
