About the Gulmarg Golf Course

Originally established during the British era by Sir Neville Chamberlain, the Gulmarg Golf Course has stood as a timeless gem for more than a century. With its rolling slopes, alpine blooms, and lush green turf set against the cool mountain breeze, this course is often described as a golfer’s paradise.

Later redesigned by the legendary golf architect Peter Thomson, the course today stretches over 6,760 yards with a par-72, 18-hole layout. What makes it even more remarkable is that it houses India’s longest hole—a par five spanning 610 yards—and is ranked among the highest golf courses in the world at an elevation of 8,700 feet.

From June to September, the course comes alive with rare alpine flowers in full bloom, making it one of the most scenic golfing destinations globally. Visitors are even permitted to drive their cars inside the premises, offering the chance to soak in its spectacular views from different vantage points.
